ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF ALEXANDROUPOLIS

Visit the archaeological museum of Alexandroupolis, which is opposite the municipal beach, its exhibition includes archaeological finds from the area of Evros, dating back to prehistoric to Roman times. Through these stone finds dating back to the 6th century. B.C. Until the 4th c. BC and originate from the area of Propontida, the history and memories of the Greeks who lived in the Ancient Thrace unfold.

THE TRADITIONAL FISHING VILLAGE OF MAKRI

Another destination we propose is the traditional fishing village of Makri. Surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, the village meets the most beautiful beaches that have been awarded with the Blue Flag. Sip your coffee or enjoy your meal at the local shops and taverns that shed visitors. Also in Makri you will find the cave of mythical Cyclops, a point yet worth exploring. Bus route every half an hour, during day time.

THE ANCIENT CITY OF MESIVRIA

Within walking distance of the village of Makri there is the ancient city of Mesivria, the ruins of which dominate to this day. The space is used for various events and concerts, which together with the magnificent landscape create unique events. The ancient area is systematically excavated since 1966 and is an organized, guarded and visiting archaeological site suitable for people with disabilities. It runs daily 0800-1500.

DADIA NATIONAL PARK

Also the Dadia National Park is another point of reference in Evros that we propose to explore. The Dadia-Lefkimmi-Soufli National Forest Park is one of the most important protected areas at national, European & international level. It is one of the first protected areas in Greece, as many species of flora & fauna in the Balkan Peninsula, Europe and Asia coexist & thrive. Dadia is 65 km away from Alex / city.

PANAGIA KOSMOSOTERA IN FERES EVROS

Among the most important Byzantine monuments in Greece are the church of Panagia Kosmosotera in Feres Evros, a glorious example of Constantinopolitan architecture, with an exceptional fresco decoration. A temple considered to be the oldest and most important emblems of Byzantium. For this great religious monument, Feres was proclaimed in 1994 as a religious center of the Thracians. The drive on the moteorway is about an hour long, but also buses run regularly, as well as the railway connecting Alexandroupoli with Feres.
